What is better than to surprise a wedding couple in the office...and that was what we did!!! It was a funny, interesting and took lots of conspiring effort from many.
To send Mei Mei off to become Mrs Wong Beng Hooi, a few of us decided to pull together and throw her a surprise pre-wedding" party. It was sweet of Mama Nora to organize some games that and Ah Cheh to arrange the nice food...and much kudos go to Sr Cecilia and Sr Isobel for being the partners in crime!!!
It was a usual weekday morning...nothing much happened in the office. As a matter of fact, no one mentioned anything. So thought the bride, our dearest Lai Khay (aka Mei Mei). Instead of our usual "where to for lunch" near lunch hour, everyone acted dumb...infact, everyone remained in their work stations and carried on working.
The groom was summoned over to the office on a supposedly official matter. The bride, as blur as she can be, was was lied to again and again...but many a times, many near "chin poh" (exposed) incidents happened...but with God's blessings, we managed to cover our tracks.
There was a good lunch ala "low tniah" (eve of the wedding), "kahwin kueh" and tea ceremony!!! Everyone gets a chance to drink "zappel" or "stout"!!! The bride and groom also had their first slow dance together (imagine how romantic after so many years!!!). All the "mak ee poh sotong" chipped in to make this a wonderful and fun lunch.
