...my one day jalan~jalan cari makan in ipoh (part 2)...

This is a continuation from Part 1, about my travelling to Ipoh with a mission on food expedition and escapade.

After filling up the boot of the car with pomeloes, our ever cheerfuland able guide Peter decided to take us to Lost World Of Tambun. I was all so excited as I have never been. It's a huge water theme park. We only took some photos when we arrived. The park was crowded as it was a public holiday.

Did you know Ipoh have a Japanese Garden??? I was not aware at all. It is located in the far side of town. Luckily it was a cooling and cloudy day. We had to drive all the way to the town centre. We had to drive quite a distance. As it was in the town center, we need to pass by you know where!!!

The Japanese Garden looks like it was after the Japanese Occupation!!! It is a pity to see the unkept landscaping. The is a large pond in the middle of the garden filled with Japanese carps.

After doing all the walking and getting in and out of the car, we all agreed it was time for lunch. Ever so ready, Peter had a stack of what-to-eat and where-to-go maps. He wanted to take us to try Ipoh's famous curry mee. Curry Mee famous in Ipoh??? I thought curry mee is only famous in Penang. So there it is again!!!
This stall is in Yee Fatt Kopitiam. After going in rounds for a few times, we finally came saw Yee Fatt. This coffee shop is famous for its Curry Mee and now I know why!!! It is really different from Penang's Curry Mee so rich with coconut milk (santan). The Ipoh Curry Mee is practically, noodles in curry chicken. You can have it either dry or with soup. I personally like the dry one. They garnish it with char siew and a few pieces of chicken and a leave or two of mint. It is delicious!!! Only thing is, the portion is a little small for me, but it's good as it keeps me wanting for more. Do not miss this!!!

Having our tummy filled and burping with contentment, Peter showed us to the Chinese temple nearby, just across the street from Yee Fatt. There were throngs of people at the Tow Boo Keong as there is a vegetarian festival where eveything is yellow!!! As we were carnivorous, in due respect to the vegetarians, we decided not to enter the temple, but something outside caught our eyes!!! The is a large make shift stall making and selling the mee koo (dough tortoise). We bought some as they were too cute and colourful to resist.
