Since joining the hospital, I have been introduced to some good food. Amongst them, is the chicken pies from Penang Hill.
To get your order taken by this aunty, is an honour...sometimes, she is so busy she is unable to take any. Do not expect for instant orders. If you are lucky, you get yours within weeks if not months ahead!!!
This time I ordered three pieces instead of my usual ten. Perhaps my craving for pastries has passed. I can eat three to four in one sitting...and i sit a regularly!!! Hahaha!!!
The pie is the size of an adult palm. I can easily gobble up a pie within minutes!!! This time I decided to tear open the pie to taste the fillings instead of putting the whole thing in my mouth, pastry and all. Well, I find potato cubes, onions, big chunks of chicken meat, quarter hard boiled eggs and some peas. The filling is not soupy. The chicken meat sure tasted like the roast chicken you buy from supermarkets. They are stir fried with a dash of Lee & Perrins. When you eat the filling seperately from the pastry, you get to taste it better. They taste of the filling is blended very well. It has that certain aroma that distinguish a good pie from a bad one. The puff pastry does not carry a strong frangrance of butter but fragrance of baked pastry. And the price of the pie is cheap...only RM1.80 per piece.
But now auntie is getting a little bit big headed. She was suppose to deliver the pies on Wednesday, but told Bong Bong, she cannot make it on that day but can only deliver the following day and if Bong Bong does not want her order, she is fine with that. She ought to be thought some customer service!!!
