Quan Zhao Cafe and Restaurant located in Jalan Sungai Pinang (opposite the AAM office). It has low roof and situated next to a car tint shop. It is on the opposite of the famous Ark Thooi Mee Snuah (Herbal Duck Drumstick with Mee Snuah).
Although the restaurant does not have a long list of food to offer, it is always packed in the morning and lunch hours. The cooking is ala ethnic Chinese. Sometimes you have to wait for tables in the weekends.
A must try is the Oh Mee (Oyster Noodles). Unlike the Oh Mee served in Nan Yang Restaurant, the noodles here are much more tasty. The noodles are not yukkily overcooked and the oyster are bigger. You can taste the sweetness from the meat, prawns and oyster in the gravy. It goes very well with the sambal. A fly can make butterfly strokes in the sambal from Nan Yang Restaurant.

The other is the fried glass noodles (Tang Hoon Char). Using almost the same ingredient (of meat, prawns and oysters), the glass noodles are stir fried to almost perfection. It is not gooey nor stretchable and importantly for fried glass noodles, not dessert dry.
We also had the Fried Mee Snuah (Mee Snuah Char) and they used meat and prawns. Nothing special about this dish, but good enough for a non-critic. Better than some, but not any better than others.
Duck being my favourite, we had the Duck in Ginger (Kneoh Ark). The duck is chopped to a thick cube. It is then cooked with ginger, spring onions, leek, tau kee, some dried chinese mushrooms and carrots with a hint of Chinese cooking wine. Gosh, I simply like the gravy!!! I slurpped dry!!!
They recommended something different, Steamed Salted Pork (Kiam Bak Choi). A big slice of pork belly seasoned in salt them steamed with chili and what tasted like lime (or vinegar). This dish makes pratically every taste buds in your tongue work. It is an eye opener.
Other dishes the Quan Zhao is famous for is the Yam Duck (Ark Or), Fried Salted Pork (Kiam Bak Chian), Fried Rice, Leek Fried With Beancurd (Suan Na Char Tau Knuah) and the Fried Seaweed Egg.
Mum likes the food here and so do I. I would usually bring my guests here for a quick meal. They are open from 8.00am to about 4.00pm only.
