Durians that come in sticks??? For those die-hard durian fans, like Mum (I always call her a durian kwee), after the durian harvest, durian kuehs will make do.
Durian kueh is made from lesser grade durians (if you buy from reliable source, if not you may end up having durian kueh made from rotten fruits!!!). The fruits are mixed with the required amount of flour and sugar, stirred over a moderate fire consistantly. I think it is more or less the same method for making dodols. A good durian kueh must have the fragrance (or pungence to some) of the fruit, not extremely sweet, chewy and a little sticky.
Well, I would go for the real durians anytime!!!
