...feng shui horror...

Being an ardent fan of Asian horror movies, I came upon a movie that made me curious to watch because of the title's namesake than the genre. I always associated feng shui to something Chinese. I did not know that is how they call it in the Philippines too. So I thought, might as well give it a shot.

Much to my surprise, this horror movie lives up to it's reputation (one of the top horror movies in Asia, I later found out). The plot is simple, yet it gives you all the excitement and chills of a good horror movie. Although it was in Tagalog (the Philippine's launguage), it did not hamper the thrills watching it.
Unlike most Asian ghost stories, the central haunting figure is not a lady in wearing white, with long hair going on all fours, crawling down staircases, crawling out from the television screen, standing outside the windows or cackling away in the middle of the night.
Who can refuse good luck? Joy (Kris Aquino) and her family have just moved into a new home, in a sparsely populated village. For them, it's time for new beginnings- a new chance and a new hope. But what for fortune awaits them.. and woe the tragedies to follow. On what should be the most unfortunate day of her life, Joy picks up a package left by a stranger in a bus. It is called 'ba-gua', (or pak kua - feng shui mirror) an item that drives bad luck away. Joy could not refuse the luck that continues to come her way until everything appears too good to be true. Unexplained events disturb her family's peace . People start to die as well. Having been advised by the geomancer to simply say no to the next form of luck, all Joy could do now is wait. But what painful decision awaits her? Will Joy prevail or be consumed by the curse of the bagua mirror? "Feng Shui" was a hit, not only in the Philippines but also in some parts of the world.

The movie stars Kris Aquino (daugther of former Philippines President, Corazon Aquino) as Joy; the good looking Jay Manalo as the husband Inton; Lotlot De Leon; Ilonah Jean; John Vladimir Manalo and Julianne Gomez (as the children).

This movie is a MUST to all those die hard horror movie fans.
